Vehicle Keys
At Forest Cobbler, we hold a wide range of car keys from the more modern keys fitted with immobiliser chips, through the older style car key, all the way to an extensive range of vintage vehicle keys dating back to the 1950s
We have all the most common car key blanks in stock, along with some that are less common. But, however hard we try, we cannot hold them all, so please feel free to get in contact with us before you come in so we can check our stock and order the correct blank, if necessary.

The Process - Chipped Keys (post 1995)
Once we have identified which immobiliser chip and key blank are needed to create your spare or replacement car key, we will begin the programming process using our specialist equipment. Depending on the type of chip needed, we may then have to go to your car and insert your original key into the ignition with a 'snoop' attached to gather more data. Then it's back to the shop to complete the programming and cut the key blade.
The whole process doesn't usually take more than 20 minutes and, if you wanted to, you could go off and complete your shopping whilst we get on with making your new key.
Please Note:
Although we can supply replacement or spare keys for most vehicles, there are still a few that can only be programmed by a dealer or auto locksmith using diagnostic equipment.

The Process - Non-Chipped Keys (pre 1994)
Cutting keys for cars that were made prior to 1994 is a much simpler process compared to Chipped Keys, so takes less time to do (although it can take a few minutes to search through the boxes of older keys).
Once we have found the correct blank, we simply align the key in the machine and cut it, either whilst you wait or whilst you go shopping.

Replacement Remote Key Cases
Many car key remotes become damaged over time, either the cases crack or the rubber button covers get holes in them, occasionally the switches themselves break off.
Fortunately there is an extensive range of replacement remote key cases available and we can swap the circuit board and immobiliser chip from your original key into a new case, cutting a new blade if necessary. We even replace the battery as part of the service. If you have been unlucky enough to lose a switch then we can solder a new one on to the circuit board for you. Most of the remote key cases we stock have been tried and tested for quality by auto locksmiths, so are stronger and better fitting than many that you may find online. |
